Scaling Distribution of Axionic Strings and Estimation of Axion Density from Axionic Domain Walls
نویسنده
چکیده
When the amount of the axion emitted from axionic strings is evaluated, the number density of the source string should be necessarily determined. Although it is the simplest assumption that the axionic strings obey the same distribution as that of the cosmic gauged strings, this assumption has not been completely justified. The damping due to the surrounding plasma is estimated by a detailed calculation of the fermion scatter from a global string and it is shown that the friction force on the axionic strings can be neglected before the axionic domain wall formation in most cases, which is one of the important necessary conditions for the scaling distribution of the strings. The energy density of the axion produced by the collapse of the axionic domain walls is also evaluated using the axionic string distribution, and it is found to be larger or at least comparable to the axion density which originates from the axionic strings. Published in Progress of Theoretical Physics 98 (1997) 851.

Effective Description of Axion Defects
Axion strings and domain walls exhibit a number of novel effects in the presence of gauge fields, in particular the electromagnetic field. It is shown how these effects are reproduced in a model of Nambu-Goto-type strings and open or closed membranes coupled to gauge fields. The generalization to 'axionic p-branes' is considered and it is shown how worldvolume gauge fields that arise in certain...
متن کاملFormation of cosmological brane defects
We study cosmological formation of D-term strings, axionic strings, domain walls and Q-balls in braneworld models of the Hanany-Witten type. For the Dterm strings, we show that the strings are the daughter branes extended between mother branes. We show that the domain walls can be produced by conventional cosmological phase transitions. In this case, the formation of the domain walls is induced...
متن کاملDomain Wall Problem of Axion and Isocurvature Fluctuations in Chaotic Inflation Models
We study the domain wall problem of an axion in chaotic inflation models. We show that the production of domain walls does not occurs if the PecceiQuinn scalar has a flat potential and its breaking Fa is larger than ∼ 10GeV. We find that too large isocurvature fluctuations are produced for such high Fa. In order for those isocurvature fluctuations to be consistent with observations of the large...
متن کاملCosmic D-strings as Axionic D-term Strings
In this work we derive non-singular BPS string solutions from an action that captures the essential features of aD−brane-anti-D−brane system compactified to four dimensions. The model we consider is a supersymmetric abelian Higgs model with a D−term potential coupled to an axion-dilaton multiplet. The strings in question are axionic D−term strings which we identify with the D−strings of type II...
متن کاملCollapse of axionic domain wall and axion emission.
The axion [1{4] is the Nambu-Goldstone boson associated with the Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking which was invented as the most natural solution to the strong CP problem [5] of QCD. The Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking scale Fa is stringently constrained by the consideration of accelerator experiments, stellar cooling and cosmology. The allowed range of Fa=N ( axion window ) is between 10GeV and 1...
